Thankful Faith

“And it came about while He was on the way to Jerusalem, that He was passing between Samaria and Galilee.  And as He entered a certain village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; and they raised their voices, saying ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!’

“And when He saw them, He said to them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’  And it came about that as they were going, they were cleansed.

“Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him.  And he was a Samaritan.

“And Jesus answered and said, ‘Were there not ten cleansed?  But the nine – where are they?  Was no one found who turned back to give glory to God, except this foreigner?’  And He said to him, ‘Rise, and go your way, your faith has made you well.’” Luke 17:11-19

“We will rarely see God at work unless we are prepared to take risks.  I do not mean wild risks where we go beyond what God has said and to test Him in some way, but where in sheer obedience we step into seemingly impossible situations and rely upon only one fact:  That God has told us to go and therefore God will take the consequences.”*

I always loved this story...what is remarkable is that the ten believed Christ and started on their way to approach the temple and priest – something completely forbidden to them and on their way they were healed.  That took faith.

However, greater is the faith that remembers to give credit where credit is due.  And in this case a most unlikely person was overwhelmed with thanksgiving for his new life thanks to Jesus Christ.  Hummm, gets you thinking, doesn’t it?

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
