“The end of all things is at
hand; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of
prayer. Above all keep fervent in your
love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospital to one another without
complaint. As each one has received a
special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of manifold
grace of God.”
I Peter 4:7-10
“Now there are varieties of
gifts; but the same Spirit. And there
are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all in
all persons. But to each one is given
the manifestation of the Spirit for the COMMON good.” I Corinthians 12:4-7
“It
is for this reason [see yesterday’s devotion] that the New Testament speaks of
spiritual gifts being given to the church.
I can find a total of twenty-two different abilities described as being ‘gifts’
in the New Testament. --“In light of that, I believe it is a mistake to be ‘gift
centred’. We need rather to be ‘service-centred’.”*
If
the gift is more prominent that the service then the direction is wrong. No gift was ever given so the person with the
gift seemed more prominent than the Giver of the gift.
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
