Hungry?

“And when He saw the multitudes, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him.  And opening His mouth He began to teach them saying,

“‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“’Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

“’Blessed are the gentle for they shall inherit the earth.

“’Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.’”
Matthew 5:1-6

“To hunger for something is to be needing it and wanting it.  Hunger is not a satisfied feeling, but a yearning for something.  Jesus used this word when He said, ‘Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness.’*

These statements by Jesus are part of the Sermon on the Mount...He challenges us all:  the poor in spirit (humble and insecure), the gentle (soft hearted toward others), those who mourn (over the sin they recognise in themselves and in the world around them) or the hungry (who seek to satisfy a need within for something better).  Taking action to soothe your grief and taking action to satisfy your hunger or thirst for righteousness always leads you to the Lord.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
