Unforgiveable

“And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, ‘He is possessed by  Beelzebul,’ and ‘He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.’  And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, ‘How can Satan cast out Satan?  And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  And if a house is divided against itself that house will not be able to stand.

“And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!  But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.

“’Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sim’ – because they were saying, ‘He has an unclean spirit.’” Mark 3:22-30

“There are some Christian people whose lives are haunted by a terrible fear.  The fear is that they have committed the ‘unforgiveable sin’.  They fear that all will not be well for them on judgment day, and in the meantime they are to be restricted in their usefulness to God, having been spiritually maimed.”*

In the next few segments we will look at the topic of the “unforgiveable sin”, but for today know this:  As a Christian, you may wonder if you have committed this sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, but this is not a sin you should worry about.  This sin concerns the heart attitude of purposeful unbelief and unrepentance.  Deliberately and continually rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit is actually a rejection of God Himself.  The religious leaders here were accusing Jesus of blaspheming God...however it was the religious leaders who were actually doing this by refusing to see the message of God’s grace through Christ, the Redeemer.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
