Unforgiveable Sin?

“And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, ‘How can Satan cast out Satan?  And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.  And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!

“’But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.  Truly I sat to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin’” Mark 3:23-29

“Behind the calm exterior of many Christians is the problem of unresolved guilt.  Some are plagued by the fear they have committed the ‘unforgiveable sin’, and despite being Christians, they await the judgment day only with fear.”*

The only other mention of the “unforgiveable” sin is in Luke 12:10.  Christians sometimes wonder if they have committed the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit.  This is not a sin about which Christians need worry; it is a heart-attitude of unbelief and unrepentance.  Deliberate, ongoing rejection of the work of the Holy Spirit is blasphemy because it is rejecting God Himself.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
