In The Long Run

“’Are not five sparrows sold for two cents?  And yet not one of them is forgotten before God.  Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows.’” Luke 12:6-7

“’Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps alight.  And be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.’” Luke 1236-36

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary, and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3

“Is anyone watching?  Are we dashing about in meaningless chaos, engulfed in ‘the benign indifference of the universe,; or are we performing for Someone who cares?”*

They say the runners in a marathon win in the last mile by not giving up.  I can’t imagine running 26 miles!  But I do know that Christ called me to enter this race to run and not give up.  He is the One out front, our example.  And He purposes that we will win in the long run, no matter where our personal race takes us or ends.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
