Too Dangerous To Listen

[After God spoke the Ten Commandments to Moses, who then shared yet another new covenant with the Israelites, this was the response:]

“’These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly at the mountain from the midst of the fire, of the cloud and of the thick gloom with a great voice, and He added no more.

“’He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.  And when you heard the voice from the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes and your elders.

“’You said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with man, yet he lives.

“’Now then why should we die?  For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God any longer, then we will die.  For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

“’Go near and hear all that the Lord our God says; then speak to us all that the Lord our God speaks to you, and we will hear and do it.’”  Deuteronomy 5:21-27

Before Jesus came, lived, taught, died and rose again, God’s voice was rarely heard.  Those who did hear His voice never forgot and always feared it.  Yet, the inherent desire to do what is right in our own eyes prevailed and man continued to hide in fear.

Jesus changed all that by opening a new and living way for each of us to approach the Throne of Grace and receive His eternal grace and pardon One to one.  And He left us His powerful and amazing Word to ‘speak’ with us every time we open and read it.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

PS:  Please pray for this ministry.  This is the 20th year of endeavouring to serve others in His name to offer a smattering of Scripture daily.  Find my statement of faith by clicking (or cut and paste this link into your Web browser):  https://especiallyhislove.blogspot.com   You can find the WeakDay Devotion online by doing a Google search for “WeakDay Devotion”  (Also, there is a “Google Blogger” App you can download to read them on your phone.)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

  • ·        Doris (my second Mom) - now 100 – is sleeping more now and growing harder than before to awaken.  Pray for Patti, her daughter, as she remains so faithful in sacrificing time and making the effort to always demonstrate God’s love to her precious mother.  Doris (and her husband, Owen, now waiting in Heaven for her) both prayed faithfully to bring me to the foot of the Cross.
  • ·        Paul –Has not had paying work since 2010.  Please pray for his ongoing resilience and that the Lord would allow him to be successful with a role.  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.  Pray for my wisdom and patience as he continues to stay here.
  • ·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  And let the truth of God’s Word and ways overcome the drive to destroy our founding values.
  • ·        Sergio – lost his job and is now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
  • ·        Toron – finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
