Bloody Warning

“When the Lord your God extends your border as He has promised you, and you say, ‘I will eat meat’ because you desire to eat meat, then you may eat meat, whatever you desire

“’ If the place which the Lord your God chooses to put His name is too far from you then you may slaughter of your herd and flock which the Lord has given you, as I commanded you; and you may eat within your gates whatever you desire.

“’Just as a gazelle or a deer is eaten, so you will eat it; the unclean and the clean alike may eat of it  Only be sure not to eat [consume] the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

“You shall not eat [consume] it; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.  You shall not eat it, so that it may be well with you and your sons after you, for you will be doing what is right in the sight of the Lord.’” Deuteronomy 12:23-27

The first time I finished reading through the Old Testament I remember how very angry I felt at a God who would kill so many people and animals.  I was about nine years old, maybe ten, but it really upset me.

The animals bothered me the most as I loved my dog and cat and other pets very much.  I could not understand how a loving God could ask people to kill so many innocent animals to make up for their sorry sins!

You can see that God had my heart hooked even then, but it took until I was 19 years old before He consumed my heart with the reason for all the bloodshed…There was no other sacrifice but God’s very, beloved Son, Jesus Christ to pay for my sins and sin-cravings!

No matter how many lambs, oxen, goats or doves were killed, men just went on sinning.  So why waste all that blood if it was not going to make a difference!  For me, it was a dramatic way to illustrate the vastness of my disobedience and how vast Jesus' sacrifice was!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

  • ·        URGENT – BABY VIVIAN - born prematurely (25 weeks)and weighed 1.5 lbs!  She is breathing on her own and taking milk from a syringe.  She has already survived one surgery to remove part of her intestine that had a hole in it. She will be having another surgery in a week.  For those of you who prayed so faithfully for Baby Saige (see below) you know the mighty value of corporate prayer!!
  • ·        Jen – my sweet friend in the UK, doctors found a blood clot. She must rest.  Her heart is troubled though, as her precious companion dog, Honey, is also growing very frail.
  • ·        Doris (my second Mom) - now 100 – is sleeping more now and growing harder than before to awaken.  Pray for Patti, her daughter, as she remains so faithful in sacrificing time and making the effort to always demonstrate God’s love to her precious mother.  Doris (and her husband, Owen, now waiting for Doris in Heaven) both prayed faithfully to bring me to the foot of the Cross.
  • ·        Paul –Has not had paying work since 2010.  Please pray for his ongoing resilience and that the Lord would allow him to be successful with a role.  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.  Pray for my wisdom and patience as he continues to stay here.
  • ·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  And let the truth of God’s Word and ways overcome the drive to destroy our founding values.
  • ·        Sergio – lost his job and is now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
  • ·        Toron – finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
