Korah's Green Eyes

[God Speaking] “’Each of you take his firepan and put incense on it, and each of you bring his censer before the Lord, two hundred and fifty firepans; also you and Aaron shall each bring his firepan.’

“’So they each took his own censer and put fire on it, and laid incense on it; and they stood at the doorway of the tent of meeting, with Mosses and Aaron.  Thus Korah assembled all the congregation against them at the doorway of the tent of meeting.  And the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.

“Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ‘Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them instantly.’  But they fell on their faces and said, ‘O God, God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sins, will You be angry with the entire congregation?’ Numbers 16:17-22

There are a few instances of jealousy and political maneuvering in Scripture and here is good example.  God selected Moses, for His own reasons, to lead the Israelites through their desert journey.  Korah felt he was just as good -- maybe even better able -- to lead God’s people and called Moses to a ‘duel’.

Well it ended badly for Korah.  But the story is here to teach us today through the numerous warnings:

  1.      Don’t let desire for what someone else has make you discontented with what you already have.
  2.          Don’t try to raise your own self-esteem by attacking someone else’s.
  3.          Don’t use part of God’s Word to support what you want rather than allowing its entirety to shape your wants.
  4.          Don’t expect to find satisfaction in power and position; God may want to work through you I the position you are in now.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

·        Update - Robin age 52, recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  The surgeon took 16 lymph nodes, only two were positive and he got all the cancer. Now it’s up to other doctors to decide treatment.  Not out of woods yet, but at least it's not spread Please keep praying for her and her family during this long process.
·        Doris (my second Mom) - now 100 – has fallen twice in the past few weeks and hit her head hard both times.  Praise the Lord there were no broken bones or concussion.  She is very sore though and starting PT & OT therapy again. She lost one of her new hearing aids in one of the falls, too.
·        Paul –Has not had paying work since 2010.  Please pray for his ongoing resilience and that the Lord would allow him to be successful with a role.  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.  Pray for my wisdom and patience as he continues to stay here.
·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.
·        Sergio – lost his job and is now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
·        Toron – finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
