Why Doubt?

“And they arose that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were with them, saying, ‘The Lord has really risen, and has appeared to Simon.’  And they began to relate their experiences on the road and how He was recognised by them in the breaking of the bread.

“And while they were telling these things, He Himself stood in their midst.  But they were startled and frightened and thought that they were seeing a spirit.  And He said to the, ‘Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?  See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.’” Luke 22:33-39

Why do doubts rise in my heart?  Why do they arise in your heart?  I suppose we can use the excuse we are only human.  When troubles and confusion pop up or things just don’t make sense anymore, we begin to get our eyes on the circumstances than keeping them on the One who manages all the circumstances … for our good and His glory.

How fortunate these individuals were to have such intimacy with the Lord.  It is no mistake that the Word contains even the bits that are disappointing to God, openly written about so we can know we are not the first one to feel weakness as a result of fear over faith.

Just think of Peter (Matthew 14:22-33).

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS
·        Pray for any new strangers in your church – Easter brings individuals into the church who need a warm and encouraging welcome.  Please pray for courage and love.
·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.
·        Sergio – lost his job and is now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
·        Toron – finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.
·        UPDATE - Len Carbone (58 yrs old).  Pray he wakes to the message of the Cross and the compassionate love of Jesus.  Had brain tumour surgery (2002) on disability since.  He has very few friends (it is difficult for people to care for him because of the effects from his condition). Has lost both parents who provided support.  Has two older brothers and a granddaughter (Callilah) who no longer want to visit him. All he has left is an empty house (in bad repair), a car and cell phone -- no Internet or TV.

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
