Mind Your Own Business

Simon had been duly reminded, not just of his triple-betrayal of Jesus, but that Jesus not only forgives, but puts our sins behind His back (where He chooses not to see them) and challenges us to get on with His work.

“Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back on His breast at the supper, and said, ‘Lord, who is the one who betrays You?’

“Peter therefore seeing him said to Jesus, ‘Lord, and what about this man?’  Jesus said to him, ‘If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?  YOU follow Me!’” John 21:20-22

I wonder if the disciples were yet aware of what the extent of their mission would be and that Jesus would ascend into Heaven and leave them to His work.  Perhaps Peter was concerned that because of his betrayal Jesus could no longer use him in the ministry.  God’s grace is so magnificent and so unexpectedly gracious to each of us!

We sometimes, like Peter, defer to another who we see as more capable than we are and get our eyes off Jesus, forgetting His plan is remarkably unique and that it is His work, not ours, that is important.  What is important is that we TRUST Him and follow Him.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

·        Pray for any new strangers in your church – Easter brings individuals into the church who need a warm and encouraging welcome.  Please pray for courage and love.
·        Paul –Has not had paying work since 2010.  Please pray for his ongoing resilience and that the Lord would allow him to be successful with a role.  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.  Pray for my wisdom and patience as he continues to stay here.
·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.
·        Sergio – lost his job and is now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
·        Toron – finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.
