How Much of Your Heart?

“And Samuel said, ‘Has the Lord as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord?  Behold to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.  For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry.  Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has also rejected you from being king.’

“Then it came about when they entered, that he looked at Eliab and thought, ‘Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him.’  But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’” I Samuel 15:22-23; 16:6-7

The Bible mentions a person’s heart 726 times.  When you read the word it refers to the centre of your spiritual activity and all the operations of your human life.  It is often used interchangeably with soul.  It is the home of your personal life and the seat of your conscience.

And God wants it all -- your entire heart, your secret heart -- where life is played out openly.  With your heart His, He can shine through you and draw those you meet to Him.  It is His divine plan.

The question remains:  how much of your and my heart will we make available to Him?

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
