How to Get Character

"Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

·        "And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations,
·        knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance,
·        and perseverance proven character;
·        and proven character, hope;
·        and hope does not disappoint,

"because of the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

"For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:1-8

If you can, choose to read all of Romans 5 - it so powerful!!  I knew you would not take time during the devotion to read all of it right now, so it is up to you.

Anyway, as you can see above, all the really difficult stuff that happens in the life of someone following Jesus Christ is not just a waste of time or difficult just to be difficult.  It has a PURPOSE!

We have all probably heard about coal into diamonds, refining gold or simmering soup, etc., -- that heat and pressure over time makes the best of the best...and so it is with our character!

Oh and we have the choice to be thankful (more on this when we start into Philippians) or we can get grumpy, cranky, bitter and brittle.  The Lord can also fix that...but that is a topic for another day.  Enjoy your weekend and if you get a minute send prayer updates, please!.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

  • ·        Continue to pray for the special person you identified a few weeks ago in your assignment until they fall into His arms.  Then you can pick another to pray for!

He is exhausted but now very worried about his little companion dog, Toby, who was injured recently and may need an x-ray and additional treatment.  He is very important to Adrian's mental well-being and a clear gift from the Lord during this time of pain and loneliness.  Please pray for God's mercy and a plan to give Adrian some dignity and comfort.

PRAYERS SPECIFICALLY FOR SALVATION

  • ·        UPDATE - JR - is home.  Celebrating life and filling his days with pleasant memories.  Recent MRI showed no change in the tumour, which is good news.  In meantime his attitude is good.  (He has rapidly advancing small cell carcinoma in his brain.)  Please pray for him and the quality of life and time he has, for his wife Jenny, his family, friends and the health carers as they deal with this serious situation.  Pray most of all that his heart opens to the love and grace of Jesus' gift of grace.
  • ·        (My brother, Tim, who loves the Lord and is ministering to JR - Pray for his strength, wisdom, courage, health and patience during this difficult time.  And that God gives him the words to say to touch JR's heart.  Tim has shared his testimony with JR and cares about him very much.)
