"Consider it all joy,
my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of
your faith produces endurance. And let
endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete,
lacking in nothing." James 1:2-4
"Therefore let him who
thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the
temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure
it." I Corinthians 10:11-13
"We can be sure that the development of a beautiful
Christ-like character will not occur in our lives without adversity.
"He will not remove the adversity until we have provided
from it and developed in whatever way He intended in bringing or allowing it
into our lives."*
Many of us have heard the expression: "What doesn't kill you makes you
stronger." by the famous German philosopher, FW Nietzsche. The principal features of his writings were
contempt for Christianity, with its compassion for the weak and his thoughts
for a "super" race of strong ones.
His ideas were taken up in a debased form by the Nazis after his
death. His eventual mental instability
resulted in permanent insanity and he died in 1900.
It is humility under adversity and knowing whose hands we are
in, because no temptation or trial will overcome us, no matter how much
strength and self discipline we might have.
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
