“I therefore, the prisoner of
the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you
have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance
to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in
the bond of peace. There is one body and
one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord,
one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all whom is over all and through
all and in all. But to each one of us
grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” Eph 4:1-7
“For this reason also, since
the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you
may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and
understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please
Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the
knowledge of God,; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious
might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving
thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the
saints in light.”
Col 1:10
“It
is true that God will use different people in different ways, and none of us
will be used in identical ways to someone else.
But the principle is so important to grasp, that no matter what I may
think of myself and my capabilities, the Lord Jesus Christ has invited me to
become part of His Body and the means through which He does His work. We must
not just commit ourselves to the ‘work’ but to the Head of the Body, so that He
can direct us to fulfil whatever He has planned.”*
Like
the illustration of “pulling yourself up with your own bootstraps” – it can’t
BE done. To work the will of the Father,
to see Him at work in your life...you must trust Him and rely on Him. You must take time to prepare and be ready
and healthy to serve Him, but your reliance on Him “pulling you up and over and
through” for His purposes is the only way we do Him honour.
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
