Independence From God

“For the love of Christ control us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died; and He died for all, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.  Therefore from now on we recognise no man according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.  Therefore if any man is in Christ he is a new creature; the old things passed away, behold, new things have come.

“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” II Corinthians 5:17

“—whenever there seemed to be a problem in our relationship with God it was never on His side but always on ours. – Christ does not come in to a person’s life just because He is asked.  There are things that have to be dealt with that have created the barrier which has kept him out up until that time.”

When Charles Price, the author of the book we are working through relates a story about a woman speaking with him about how God had failed her, he asked the question:  “’You may be desperate’, I acknowledge, ‘but what are you desperate for?  For God, or for fulfilment?  You’ve given no evidence of concern to meet God’s requirements, and although you want Him to please you, I am not sure that you are equally concerned about pleasing Him.  Your problem seems clear; you have never repented of your independence of God and of your sin.’”

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
