Why Share?

“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers and elders of the people, if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well, let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead – by this name this man stands here before you in good health.

“He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the very corner stone.  And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.’” Acts 4:8-12

“A person needs to become a Christian not because of the needs in their life, but because Jesus Christ is true, and He is Lord.  If we only preach the Gospel because it works, we compete with a thousand other things that may claim to work.  If we preach Christ only because He meets needs, we have nothing to say to people whose lives are relatively trouble free and feel able to handle the problems themselves.  The Gospel is important because it is true.”*

Sharing our faith is not about getting through a testimony or reading a tract or even Bible verses with a pre-Christian, although all these tools may help.  It is instead, relying on the Lord’s leading moment-by-moment to live a life that attracts others to ask, “What is it about you!  Your life is not perfect, but there is something about you that is different.”  It is probably one of the confusing things about faith in Christ; He doesn’t necessarily take away our challenges, but He will give us the grace to be His witness even through the worst of things.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
