Salvation IS free, yet...

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:4-10

“Let us face realistically that there is a cost to becoming and to being a Christian.  We talk about salvation being ‘free, and this is wonderfully true, but only in a limited sense.  It IS free in so far that we cannot purchase it or earn it, nor can we in any way bargain for salvation on the basis of our own goodness.

“In this regard, the Christian life is absolutely free and were it anything other than that we would be without hope.  However in the ministry of Jesus Christ He never talked about salvation being free.  He ALWAYS talked about it being costly.”*

We are saved, not to exercise our license to sin, but to a liberty to choose to be His example in this world to those who have not yet met Him.

Please take extra time with the prayer list today and please send me some updates.  I realise the list is growing long and is sometimes repetitive, but many need our prayers today!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
