“In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the
good news of your salvation, and as a result believed in Him, were stamped with
the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, the One promised by Christ, as owned and
protected by God.
“The Spirit is the guarantee, the first instalment, the
pledge, a foretaste of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own
purchased possession (His believers), to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, but seek to
please Him, by whom you were sealed and marked (branded as God’s own for the
day of redemption (the final deliverance from the consequences of sin.” Ephesians
4:30
“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He
who has begun a good work in you will continue to perfect and complete it until
the day of Christ Jesus – the time of His return.” Philippians 1:6
“You board a bus for the
city. First, unless you board it you
will just stay put. Once you board the
bus, you relax and let the bus take you.
Some people think that after they ‘take salvation’ they have to push it
all the way to the destination! God’s ‘bus’
never breaks down![1]”
It is easy to get tripped up by the thought, that we must
work and push our ‘hope’ by continual good works and ‘being good’, to get into
His promised eternity -- and we start doing stuff more and slowly move away
from the truth of trusting on His perfect work for us. He doesn’t need our help. He has completed all that is needed!
Nevertheless, we must never forget that once we are truly ON
the ‘bus’ (once we accept that Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins we
can never pay for and accept His gracious gift of salvation) we never have to
worry because the only stop there will be after our journey is over, is the one
as we step into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ! What a glorious day that will be!
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)
