In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the
good news of your salvation, and as a result believed in Him, were stamped with
the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, the One promised by Christ as owned and
protected by God.
“The Spirit is the guarantee, the first instalment, the
pledge, a foretaste of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own
purchased possession (His believers) to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians
1:13-14
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [but seek to
please Him], by whom you were sealed [marked and branded] as God’s own for the
day of redemption, the final deliverance from the consequences of sin.” Ephesians
4:30
“Too many people are looking for some emotional experience or
some hilarious feeling to make them ‘feel saved’. But we are saved by receiving a Saviour and
not by feeling something. As we walk in
fellowship with God we will surely feel the peace and joy of assurance, but it
is a result of salvation and not a means of salvation.[1]”
If you have not heard about the Campus Crusade for Christ, ‘Four
Spiritual Laws’ illustration, let me share it here now:
Some of us may not remember sitting in a car, stopped at a
railroad crossing and wont know the different types of cars.
·
Engine - first in line and had the power to pull
the train along.
·
Coal car - When trains were powered by coal, the
second car held heaps of coal as ‘fuel’ and a man was there almost constantly
shovelling coal into the engine furnace.
·
Caboose - The last car was the place the crew
went to rest. It was used for various
communications, as those stationed there keep a lookout for load shifting,
damage to the cars and overheating, etc.
Using these three cars, the illustration demonstrated the
priorities in the new life in Christ:
·
The engine represented the Lord Jesus Christ and
His saving power in our lives.
·
The coal car was us, putting our faith in the ‘engine’
·
The caboose was our feelings and emotions.
The key: We
must, moment-by-moment, put our faith into the Engine. The caboose will follow along behind. However, it is vital to remember that the
train can NOT be pulled along by the caboose.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS (any updates?)

those in the path of the storm, that the Lord is merciful while this horrendous
storm roars through the Southern USA to protect those in its path and all
rescue and support workers in the aftermath.
· Christians in Afghanistan – Many Christians went to this country to
share the Good News to many who would never have heard of Jesus. These leaders and baby Christians are now in heightened
danger and need your prayers to protect them and sustain them during this

Left Behind in Afghanistan – Please pray for those who have been unable to escape from Afghanistan
before America abandoned the country.
They now face persecution and death at the hands of barbarians. How heart wrenching.

helping. Please pray for her patience
and recovery.

must be made.

Lord in a new media -- thanks to this lockdown.
Give him strength, wisdom and protect his health.

of Rachael – has come through her second reconstructive surgery
after her double mastectomy (she’s now cancer free) and is now doing great,
back to a normal life and routines. She
sends thanks for all your prayers.

and Rachael – is entering her second year of college. Please continue to pray for her that she does
well, makes good decisions and continues having a good relationship with the
Lord.
·
Adam –
please pray for his strength and peace as he pursues a new job and that the
Lord will guide him clearly in his decisions and that his wife will be the

faithful and kind wife. Thank you for
praying for her. She needs prayers to
sustain her and protect her health and energy during this time of additional
stress and challenge.
·

a dear friend in Germany, the immunotherapy for his lung cancer seems to be
working for now. Pray for his ongoing
strength through the pain, patience and God’s mercy. Pray for his healthcare providers and that he
is surrounded by faithful and compassionate Christian friends who will support
him through this journey. Pray for his
Mom (age 84) who is also unwell -- that their time together is filled with
extraordinary good memories and lots of love.
·
Callilah
- a lost child. Pray the Lord will
capture her heart.
Pray for those in full-time service
Pray to uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word, are bold and courageous in the face of evil. Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.
Pray for those with ongoing health concerns
Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health. Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.
