by Casting Crowns (official lyric video)
“A voice of one is calling out, ‘Clear the way for the
Lord in the wilderness, remove the obstacles; make straight and smooth in the
desert a highway for our God. Every valley
shall be raised, and every mountain and hill be made low; and let the rough
ground become a plain, and the rugged places a broad valley.
“And the glory and majesty and splendour of the Lord will be revealed, and all humanity shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. A voice says, ‘Call our, prophesy.’ Then he answered, ‘What shall I call out?’
"The voice answered; All
humanity is as frais as grass and all that makes it attractive, its charm, its
loveliness is momentary life the flowers of the field.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of
the Lord blows upon it; Most certainly all the people are like grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the
Word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:3-8 – The Amplified Bible
“Fidelity involves learning to trust that, out beyond the
perimeter of the ‘fog’, God still reigns and has not abandoned us, no matter
how it may appear.
“Paradoxically, the most perplexing, Job-like times may help
‘fertilise’ faith and nurture intimacy with God. The deepest faith, what I have called fidelity,
sprouts at a point of contradiction, like a blade of grass between stones. Human beings grow by striving, working,
stretching; and in a sense, human nature needs problems more than solutions.
“Why are not all prayers answered magically and
instantly? Why must every convert travel
the same tedious path of spiritual discipline?
Because persistent prayer, and fasting, and study, and meditation are
designed primary for our sakes, not for God’s.”[1]
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
