Newsboys - Greatness Of Our God

“Then Nebuchadnezzar in a rage and anger gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego; then these men were brought before the king. – ‘Now if you are ready, at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon psaltery, and bagpipe, and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, very well.  But if you will not worship, you will immediately be cast into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can deliver you out of my hands?’

“Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego answered and said to the king, ‘O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter.  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.  But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.’” Job 3:13-18 (selected)

Imagine Job is set in an imaginary court room.  The readers are jurors.  Job is the plaintive in a suit against God.  Job lays out the ‘facts’, he carefully builds his case in anger and satire.  Job feels betrayed, he ‘stomps his feet at God and wanders as close to blasphemy as anyone can.  Yet, his words have a startlingly familiar ring for all of us.  Job gives voice to our most deeply felt complaints against God!

However, if you lose sight of the first chapter of Job, you miss the point.  It is not God who is on trial, it is Job!  And the point of the book is not suffering.  It is not even, ‘Where is God when it hurts?’!  The point of the book is faith:  Where is Job when it hurts?  Where are YOU when it hurts?

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

·      Isaias and Judith (Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the Philippines has been devastated by constant batterings from typhoons and floods.  Take a moment to visit their new website:  https://afcph.org/ to learn more.  Many believers have lost everything, including worship centres, computer equipment, musical instruments and sound systems.  China’s threat grows.  Pray for the leaders, administrators, workers and teachers.  Pray our Father keep these servants strong, in good health, safe and supported and that they keep a balance in their lives.  They need funds badly now.  Please take a moment to send encouragement to Isaias Catorce, who teaches and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com

·      J&R – recently had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with them and would appreciate prayers that God uses His words in their hearts to draw them to Him for Eternity!

Pray for those in full-time service

Pray to uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word, are bold and courageous in the face of evil.  Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.

Pray for those with ongoing health concerns

Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health.  Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.

Pray for the World
