Does God Promise Health and Wealth?
The Beat with Allen Parr
[Eliphaz’ encouragement] “’But as for me, I would seek
God, and I would place my cause before God; who does great and unsearchable
things, wonders without number. He gives
rain on the earth, and sends water on the fields, so that He sets on high those
who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety.
“’He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, so that their
hands cannot attain success. He captures
the wise by their own shrewdness and the advice of the cunning is quickly
thwarted. By day they meet with darkness
and grope at noon as in the night. But
He saves from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the
mighty. So, the helpless has hope, and
unrighteousness must shut its mouth.’” Job 5:8-16
The book of Job opens with God and Satan involved in
something resembling a wager. Satan
claims Job is only loyal because God has ‘put a hedge around him,’ and scoffs at
Him. He hints this proves that God is obviously
unworthy of love without manipulating others.
That God only attracts people like Job because He ‘bribes’ them to
follow Him. Satan hisses, ‘If times get
tough, they will quickly abandon You.’
God loves Job and accepts the challenge that will test Satan’s
theory. Job’s response to the worst of
circumstances was critical. Do blessings
and prosperity really matter? Does
success come because we try to be obedient?
Even today, people watch us to see what we will do when things go ‘wrong’.
Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who
prays for you each morning.)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS
·
USA – Pray the Lord will demonstrate His power in
unexpected and uniting ways during these times of unrest and confusion. Help hearts settle and rest in Him
alone. Let the truth of God’s Word and
ways, overcome the drive to destroy our founding, Bible-based values. And pray for Christ-centre, Bible-based
revival in the USA and religious freedom for Christians wherever they may be.
·
USA President
Donald Trump – As Christians, we
know God has a plan for the USA through this man. If you doubt the importance of his
appointment, just look at the baseless antagonism against him. Surely Satan is
NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.
Pray someone helps President Trump and Melania
understand and strengthen their personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. Pray they both have an
insatiable hunger to read God’s Word for themselves. Pray God sends a Bible-Believing Christian to
regularly disciple them in the Truth.
Pray God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who regularly circle
around them.
·
Pray for Paul – he
continues to search for a job. God has a
plan for him to capture his heart someway.

Hans –
a dear friend in Germany, continues his immunotherapy for lung cancer. His MRI went well. He has a brain CT scan today and has asked
for prayer for strength through the pain, patience and God’s mercy. Continue to pray for his healthcare providers
and that he is surrounded by faithful and compassionate Christian friends who
will support him through this journey.
Pray for his Mom (age 83) who is unwell herself, that their time
together will be filled with extraordinary good memories and lots of love.

Isaias and Judith
(Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the Philippines has been
devastated by constant batterings from typhoons and floods. Take a moment to visit their new website: https://afcph.org/
to learn more. Many believers have lost
everything, including worship centres, computer equipment, musical instruments
and sound systems. China’s threat grows. Pray for the leaders, administrators, workers
and teachers. Pray our Father keep these
servants strong, in good health, safe and supported and that they keep a
balance in their lives. They need funds badly now. Please take a moment to send encouragement
to Isaias Catorce, who teaches and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com
· J&R – recently had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with them and would appreciate prayers that God uses His words in their hearts to draw them to Him for Eternity!
Pray for those in full-time service
Pray to uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word, are bold and courageous in the face of evil. Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.
Pray for those with ongoing health concerns
Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health. Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.
