“In Thee, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be ashamed; in Thy righteousness deliver me.  Incline Thine ear to me, rescue me quickly; be Thou to me a rock of strength.  A stronghold to save me.

“For Thou art my rock and my fortress; for Thy names sake Thou wilt lead me and guide me.  Thou wilt pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid me; for Thou art my strength.  Into Thy hand I commit my spirit; Thou hast ransomed me, O Lord, God of truth.

“Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted away from grief, my soul and my body also.  For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing.  My strength has failed because of my iniquity, and my body has wasted away.

“Because of all my adversaries, I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbours, and an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street, flee from me.  I am forgotten as a dead man, out of mind.  I am like a broken vessel.  For I have heard the slander of many, terror is on every side; while they took counsel together against me.  They schemed to take away my life.

“But as for me, I trust in Thee, O Lord, I say, ‘Thou art my God.’  My times are in Thy hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those who persecute me.  Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; save me in Thy lovingkindness.  Let me not be put to shame, O Lord, for I call upon Thee; let the wicked be put to shame, let them be silent in Sheol.”  Selected from Psalm 31

Today is the anniversary of the day my parents brought me into the world.  Eventually, they also brought me a little brother and together we made up a family.  We did not go to church and mostly God’s name was used in vain.  Though I imagined He might be lurking about somewhere during funerals, Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas and the death of beloved pets.

When I was nine, I got a Bible.  Thinking it just a book, began to read it from the beginning (as you do).  When I finished the Old Testament I really did not like God because, for me, the great tragedy was all the animals that had to be killed for the sins of men.

It took me some time to go into the New Testament.  When I did, things began to make a little more sense (well until I got to Revelation).  I read the Bible over and over again for the next ten years.  My ninth-grade English teacher and her husband began to pray for my salvation in secret.

As I kept reading God’s Word and my curiosity to understand grew, Billy Graham Crusades became very important to me.  Yet, God’s plan did not bring me personally to His Cross until I was nineteen.  There were no flashes of light, no voices or singing angels, just my tears flowing with the realisation that God loved me and had been directing me to my knees all those years.

For my birthday, I present you with the video above and hope it touches you.  And if you already know the Lord Jesus as your personal Saviour, HERE IS A PRESENTATION (click the words) that will give you a gentle way to lead someone toward the Cross.  Nothing could be more important.  Thank you for being here today and may God stir your heart toward His love and justice!

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

PS:  Find my statement of faith:  https://especiallyhislove.blogspot.com (where you will also find a series of beginner Bible studies to share). You can easily find the WeakDay Devotion online by doing a Google search for ‘WeakDay Devotion’.  (Also, there is an android ‘Goggle Blogger’ app you can download to read them on your phone.  Not sure about Apple.)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

·      Pray for Paul – he continues to search for a job, and today he has an important interview meeting.  God has a plan for him to capture his heart someway.

·     ·      Pray for those in these countries who read the WeakDay Devotion – Hong Kong, Israel, Sweden, Russia, USA, Canada, Ukraine, Poland, UK, France, Australia, UAE, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ireland, American Samoa, Brazil, The Philippines, Estonia, Singapore, China, India, India.  Thank the Lord for allowing this blog to be reaching around His world to an international audience in mysterious and far-flung geographic locations.

·      Hans – a dear friend in Germany, continues his immunotherapy and the doctors are managing the pain with medications.  Pray for his strength through the pain and God’s mercy.  Continue to pray for his healthcare providers, his patience and wisdom.  Pray he is surrounded by faithful and compassionate Christian friends who will support him through this journey.  Pray for his Mom (age 83) who is unwell herself, that their time together will be filled with extraordinary good memories and lots of love.

·      Isaias and Judith (Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the Philippines has been devastated by constant batterings from typhoons and floods.  Take a moment to visit their new website:  https://afcph.org/ to learn more.  Many believers have lost everything, including worship centres, computer equipment, musical instruments and sound systems.  China’s threat grows.  Pray for the leaders, administrators, workers and teachers.  Pray our Father keep these servants strong, in good health, safe and supported and that they keep a balance in their lives.  They need funds badly now.  Please take a moment to send encouragement to Isaias Catorce, who teaches and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com

·      USA – Pray the Lord will demonstrate His power in unexpected and uniting ways during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  Let the truth of God’s Word and ways overcome the drive to destroy our founding, Bible-based values.  For Christ-centre, Bible-based revival in the USA and religious freedom for Christians wherever they may be.

·      J&R – recently had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with them and would appreciate prayers that God uses His words in their hearts to draw them to Him for Eternity!

·      USA President Donald Trump – As Christians, we know God has a plan for the USA through this man.  If you doubt the importance of his appointment, just look at the baseless antagonism against him. Surely Satan is NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.  Pray someone helps President Trump and Melania understand and strengthen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Pray they both have an insatiable hunger to read God’s Word for themselves.  Pray God sends a Bible-Believing Christian to regularly disciple them in the Truth.  Pray God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who regularly circle around them.

Pray for those in full-time service

Pray to uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word, are bold and courageous in the face of evil.  Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.

Pray for those with ongoing health concerns

Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health.  Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.

Pray for the World
