SongLab - A Love That Remains (Lyrics) ft.

Bryan McCleery & Meredith Mauldin

“Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.  And the Lord said to Satan, ‘From where do you come:’  Then Satan answered the Lord and said, ‘From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.’

“And the Lord said to Satan, ‘Have you considered My servant Job?  For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.’  Then Satan answered the Lord, ‘Does Job fear God for nothing?  Hast Thou not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?

“’Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.  But put forth Thy hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse Thee to Thy face.’  Then the Lord said to Satan, ‘Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.’  So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:6-12

When you read God’s Word, typically you ‘read from YOUR perspective’.  What does what I’m reading mean for me right now?  Is there a personal message here?  What’s the lesson I can put into action?

Yet, sometimes it is good to step back and consider God’s perspective --how God is taking action, watching over His world and seeing how individuals react.  The first time this thought came to me was when I was reading the beginning of Creation and suddenly, I found myself hurting ‘for God’ and all the hopes He had.  How ‘lonely’ He must feel and ‘sad’ that Adam and Eve could not keep ONE little rule!

Of course, theologians would caution that this is presumptuous and irreverent, but it is very instructive to each of us as we read Job, especially.  That is the perspective we take through this ‘disappointment with God’ series.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

You can easily find the WeakDay Devotion online by doing a Google search for ‘WeakDay Devotion’.  (Also, there is an android ‘Goggle Blogger’ app you can download to read them on your phone.  Not sure about Apple.)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

·      USA – Pray the Lord will demonstrate His power in unexpected and uniting ways during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  Let the truth of God’s Word and ways, overcome the drive to destroy our founding, Bible-based values.  And pray for Christ-centre, Bible-based revival in the USA and religious freedom for Christians wherever they may be.

·      USA President Donald Trump – As Christians, we know God has a plan for the USA through this man.  If you doubt the importance of his appointment, just look at the baseless antagonism against him. Surely Satan is NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.  Pray someone helps President Trump and Melania understand and strengthen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Pray they both have an insatiable hunger to read God’s Word for themselves.  Pray God sends a Bible-Believing Christian to regularly disciple them in the Truth.  Pray God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who regularly circle around them.

·      Pray for Paul – he continues to search for a job.  God has a plan for him to capture his heart someway.

·      Pray for those in these countries who read the WeakDay Devotion – Hong Kong, Israel, Sweden, Russia, USA, Canada, Ukraine, Poland, UK, France, Australia, UAE, Germany, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Ireland, American Samoa, Brazil, The Philippines, Estonia, Singapore, China, India, India.  Thank the Lord for allowing this blog to be reaching around His world to an international audience in mysterious and far-flung geographic locations.

·      Hans – a dear friend in Germany, continues his immunotherapy for lung cancer.  He has another MRI and CT scan on the 18th and 20th of January and has asked for prayer.  Pray for his strength through the pain, patience and God’s mercy.  Continue to pray for his healthcare providers and that he is surrounded by faithful and compassionate Christian friends who will support him through this journey.  Pray for his Mom (age 83) who is unwell herself, that their time together will be filled with extraordinary good memories and lots of love.

·      Isaias and Judith (Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the Philippines has been devastated by constant batterings from typhoons and floods.  Take a moment to visit their new website:  https://afcph.org/ to learn more.  Many believers have lost everything, including worship centres, computer equipment, musical instruments and sound systems.  China’s threat grows.  Pray for the leaders, administrators, workers and teachers.  Pray our Father keep these servants strong, in good health, safe and supported and that they keep a balance in their lives.  They need funds badly now.  Please take a moment to send encouragement to Isaias Catorce, who teaches and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com

·      J&R – recently had the privilege of sharing the Gospel with them and would appreciate prayers that God uses His words in their hearts to draw them to Him for Eternity!

Pray for those in full-time service

Pray to uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word, are bold and courageous in the face of evil.  Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.

Pray for those with ongoing health concerns

Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health.  Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.

Pray for the World
