“Then Elisha said, ‘Listen to the word of the Lord; thus says the Lord, ‘Tomorrow about this time a measure of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’

“And the royal officer on whose hand the king was leaning answered the man of God and said, ‘Behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?’  Then he said, ‘Behold you shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.’

“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, ‘Why do we sit here until we die?  If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ then the famine is in the city and we shall die there; and if we site here, we die also.

“Now therefore come and let us go over to the camp of the Arameans.  If they spare us we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.  And they arose at twilight to go to the camp of the Arameans; when they came to the outskirts of the camp of the Arameans, behold there was no one there.” II Kings 7:1-5

“George MacDonald (Scottish preacher/ writer) was speaking with his son one day on end times.  The son said ‘It seems too good to be true.’  A smile crossed MacDonald’s face, ‘Nay,’ it is just so good, it must be true!’[1]

Hope is a remarkably powerful human emotion.  Fairy tales enchant us throughout life – an enduring anticipation of a happy ending.  We all believe that in the end the wicked witch will die, and the brave and innocent children will find a way to escape.

The story in II Kings of the four lepers is such a powerful illustration of hope.  Lepers were hopeless individuals – no one could ever give them a helping hand or a hug, yet hope still lived in their hearts.  The Scriptures remind us that hope comes from our heavenly Father as we hope in each tomorrow.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning).

·        Penne – recently widowed after 43 years, the last ten of which she was her husband’s full-time caregiver.  She suffers mental problems from a childhood experience and has reached out to Patti (who asks for wisdom and patience).  Penne has ‘disowned’ all her family, and although a believer, does not attend fellowship for support.  Please pray for her peace of mind and God’s guidance.
·        USA President Donald Trump – As Christians it is our responsibility to pray for our leaders and know that God has a plan for the USA through this man.  If you doubt the importance of his appointment, just look at the baseless antagonism against him. Surely Satan is NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.  Pray someone helps President Trump and Melania to understand the true meaning of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Pray they will both have an insatiable hunger to read God’s Word for themselves.  Pray God sends a Bible-Believing Christian to regularly disciple them in the Truth.  Pray God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who regularly circle around them.

Pray for those in full-time service

During this time, when the entire world is struggling to understand this new ‘plague’, it is critical for us to uphold our Christian leaders.  They will be needed everywhere.  Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.

Pray for those with ongoing health concerns

Many of us have family, friends and loved ones who are fragile health wise.  It is important to protect them in practical ways and most important we must pray even more for them that the Lord will have mercy on them during this challenging time.

Pray for the World
