My First Memory Verse

"And Jesus was going about all the cities and the villages teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.

"And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd.  Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.'" Matthew 9:35-38

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them because they fainted and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

"Then saith He unto His disciples, 'The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.'" King James version

Before I was officially a teenager, this verse in Matthew, captured my heart.  I was not really sure what the "Gospel of the kingdom" was.  "Disciples"... well, that was a word that didn't mean much to me either.  And memorisation was for poetry!

Yet, this is the first verse I memorised, believing the Lord gave it to me in a special way.  Somehow, as unchurched and unaware as I was, I was compelled to pray for this unknown "harvest", knowing I would take part in gleaning in His fields one day.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

(( Please remember to send me prayer updates. ))
