Disposition of Memories, Part 1: Dying or Weeping?

"My sin is always before me." Psalm 51:3

"Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a certain servant-girl came to him and said, 'You too were with Jesus the Galilean.'  But he denied it before them all, saying, 'I do not know what you are talking about.'--And again he denied it with an oath, 'I do not know the man.'

"--Then he began to curse and swear, 'I do not know the man!'  And immediately a cock crowed.  And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, 'Before a cock crows you will deny Me three times.'  And he went out and wept bitterly." Matthew 26:69-75

"Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.'  But they said, 'What is that to us?  See to that yourself!'  And he threw the pieces of silver into the sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself." Matthew 27:3-5

"'Two broken men appear side by side on the stage of Scripture,' notes Dr. Robinson.  'When life overwhelms one man, it marked his end, but for the other, it was a place to begin again...One came to the end of the line and demanded, 'Stop the world; I want off.'  The second arrived at the end of the line and requested a transfer.[1]

"Like Peter and Judas they [we] face a choice -- one that despair always offers -- between remorse and repentance, between dying and weeping."[2]

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

  • ·        UPDATE - Adrian - Sent me a text last night:  "Had one of my worst days...heat stress and pain!".  As you who have been praying for him know, the cancer markers are very high now.  He had some special blood tests this week and is on a new cancer drug for the next ten days.  He is in a LOT of pain again and the HOT weather is adding to his misery.  Please do not grow weary of praying for this man.  He needs social services to help him.  Remember to pray for his little companion dog, Toby.  He is very important to Adrian's mental well-being and a clear gift from the Lord during this time of pain and loneliness.
  • ·        UPDATE - Judith, co-labourer and wife of, Isaias in the Philippines (see prayer request in full-time ministry below).  The spinal surgery was delayed.  No new updates as of this morning.  Pray for the doctors and health care workers..  Pray for Judith, Isaias and their selfless family who tirelessly travel throughout the Philippines teaching others how to strengthen the family of Christ.  They are very humble missionaries and if the Lord moves your heart they would appreciate any donation to help defray the cost of $4,500 USD. (see prayer request below "Full-Time Service" for more details on how you can help).
  • ·        UPDATE - Paul - continues to have job interviews this week (has not had paying work since 2010).  Is on a waiting list to have a surgical procedure to repair an injury he sustained while volunteering at Vinnies (who are trying to deny paying him for this).  I know the Lord is watching over him because of your prayers.  Most of all, pray his heart melts enough for the Truth to touch him where it hurts.  He continues to search for a job and has not had work since 2010!
  • ·        UPDATE - Donald Trump - the new USA President.  If ever there was a time to pray for an individual, it is now.  No matter whom you voted for or wanted as President...it is our responsibility as Christians to remember God has a plan through this man.  Let us pray someone helps him understand the full meaning of giving his life in faith to our gracious Saviour and that he will have someone to disciple him.  So much depends on it.

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS
