"By
this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten
Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but
that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation [in full and perfect payment] for our sins.
"Beloved
if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has beheld God at any time; if we love
one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.
"By
this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His
Spirit. God abides in us, and His love
is perfected in us." I John 4:9-11
"...instructing people to love
without telling them they are loved is like telling them to write a check
without making a deposit in their accounts.
No wonder so many relationships are overdrawn. Hearts have insufficient love."*
If you have not memorised John 3:16, today
is a great day to start. Find an index
card or an old business card and carefully write the words out on it. Then pull it out often and say it to yourself
or aloud if you are alone. Practice
saying it until you have mastered your memory!
If you have already memorised it, then
perhaps part of or the entire "I John" passage above? Hiding His Word in our hearts helps when
things seem hopeless and especially when we feel unloveable!
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays
for you each morning, Darlene
