“But when Peter saw this, he
replied to the people, ‘Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this, or why do you
gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God
of our fathers has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered up
and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.
“’But you disowned the Holy and
Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, but put to death
the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we
are witnesses. And on the basis of faith
in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you
see and know, and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect
health in the presence of you all.” Acts
3:12-16
“If
I place a lot of faith in a weak chair and decide to sit on it, I will very
soon find myself in a crumpled heap on the floor. My problem was not lack of faith, but the
weakness of the object in which I placed my faith. All the faith in the world will not make up
for weakness in the object in which my faith has been placed. Conversely, a little faith will not detract
from the ability of a strong object.”*
Throughout
our lives we learn that putting faith in people, places or things does not give
us what we need. People let us down,
hurt us, abandon us; that our problems and difficulties follow us from place to
place and money is no cure for what ails you.
Or in Jesus words, where your treasure is there will be your heart
be. Putting faith in anything or anyone
other than Jesus will disappoint, because there is no hope in anything or
anyone else!
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
