So Simple?!

“Thus says the Lord, ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength, and whose heart turns away from the Lord.  For he will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when prosperity comes, but will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is in the Lord.  For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes, but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8

“Therefore the role for which he [man in general] was created, were you to observe man in action, the way he went about his daily work, the way as a husband and father he would care for his family, the way a mother would bring up her children, the way employers would treat their employees, and employees respect and work for their employers, the way a person spent their money and their time, and the way they talked to their neighbour (and the way they talked ABOUT them), you would see what God was like.”

Interesting that God emphasised “trust in the Lord and the one whose trust is in the Lord”.  I have a treasured book, by Jerry Bridges called “Trusting God”.  A beautiful couple (Buddy & Susan Smith), who remain two of the most influential Christians in my life gave it to me, knowing my personal struggle with trust.  What I have found is that I am not alone!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

PS: ANY PRAYER UPDATES TODAY?

For any of you who wonder if prayer is worth taking time for, just page back through previous entries and see the hand of our loving Father in action!

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS:  Day before yesterday my Internet Service Provider suspended my service for sending out “SPAM”.  I spent about three hours with various people trying to get it back on.  The result is that I have been threatened with complete denial of service if they ever catch me sending SPAM again.  This was all done without human intervention by the way.  Having sent this devotion out for over 12 years to those who “subscribe/ask to be put on the list”, I am concerned.  I’m continuing  to recreate the one mailing list that was lost and am unable to send out the email version until I can send it safely.  Please pray that a solution is found.  Until then I will post this on the blog site and hope for a timely solution.
