Two Examples - Moses (part 1)

“And the Lord said, ‘I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings.  So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious lan, to a land flowing with milk and honey, --

“Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.’  But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?’  And He said, ‘Certainly I will be with you, and this shall be a sign to you that it is I who have sent you; when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain.’” Exodus 3:5-8a, 10-12

“Moses, like Abraham before him, had offered to God only his dedication to do the work for God, leaving God Himself on the sidelines.”  [after 40 years in the desert] he was “dead to his own ability and resources, for he had tried so gallantly and failed so miserably, his first question in response to God’s call was: ‘Who am I, that I should go’ –

“God’s response to Moses’ question was to ignore it, for ‘who am I?’ is never the issue.  He replied, ‘I will be with you’ for that IS the issue!  The resources necessary for the task were not to be found in who Moses was, but in who God was!  Moses responded in effect by asking, ‘Who are You?’  Have you ever taken time to ask God that question, and then listened, really listened, to His answer?”*

God KNOWS.  He KNOWS best.  He LEADS us best.  It is our choice to follow His leading or to do the work for Him.  There is a huge difference!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
