The Ticket

“For I want you to know how great a struggle I have on your behalf, and for those who are at Laodicea, and for all those who have not personally seen my face, that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  Colossians 2:1-3

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  For by it the men of old gained approval.  By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.” Hebrews 1:1-2

“Jesus therefore said to them again, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.  All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.  I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.’” John 10:7-10

“The ‘ticket’ stated:  ‘One way journey to heaven’.  I knew that this was a vital part of the whole arrangement.  Through the acknowledgement of my sin before God, and my willingness to turn from it, I had an assurance of the gift of eternal life.  I was going to heaven.  I believed that this was the ultimate goal of the work of Christ, the reason why He had died and the object of my salvation.’*

The ‘thief’ comes only to steal and kill and destroy our ability to claim our ticket; if he cannot accomplish this before you are a Christian, he will work to ensure you never look at what the ticket means for your life after you do claim your ticket.  In essence, you never look at the back of the ticket.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
