Lost Expectations

“’For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.’” John 3:16-18

“For many people there is a large gap between what they expect from their Christian faith and what they actually experience. From a steady diet of books, sermons and personal testimonies, all promising triumph and success, they learn to expect dramatic evidence of God working in their lives. If they do not see such evidence, they feel disappointment, betrayal and other guilt.”* The Holy Spirit within us and His perfect Word are our only source of the Truth, we just have to read it and submit ourselves to the Truth to know:

“Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you abide in My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the Truth shall make you free.’” John 8:31-32

Take care to understand His Word. Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
