Just Once

“I will give thanks to Thee, O Lord, among the peoples; and I will sing praises to Thee among the nations. For Thy lovingkindness is great above the heavens; and Thy truth reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and Thy glory above all the earth.” Psalm 108:3-5

“And as He was not approaching near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, saying, ‘Blessed is the King, who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’ And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to Him, ‘Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.’ And He answered and said, ‘I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!’” Luke 19:37-40

There is only one time when Jesus accepted men’s general praise and that was as He entered Jerusalem for the last time. He knew He would soon be killed at the hands of the multitude; but in that multitude were individuals whose lives had been touched by Him for Eternity. Jesus doesn’t appeal to the masses, nor does He attempt to. Jesus reaches out to us one-by-one because His love is not a general, “feel-good” love, it is personal and specifically for us. Isn’t that a neat reason to give thanks and to praise Him!!

Stay near God's Word. Take care. Your servant & friend in Christ, Darlene

PS: Now that the holidays are over, we return to the Psalms series. Please pray for all those who spend most of the year almost forgotten by others and are overwhelmed with “general” love during this time. They are now feeling the isolation harder.
