Proverbs, Chapter 18 - By Crossway (2 min 38 seconds)

“He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he quarrels against all sound wisdom.  A fool does not delight in understanding, but only in revealing his own mind.  When a wicked man comes, contempt also comes, and with dishonour comes scorn.

“The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.  To show partiality to the wicked is not good, nor to thrust aside the righteous in judgment.  A fool’s lips bring strife, and his mouth calls for blows.  A fools’ mouth is his ruin, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

“The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsel, and they go down into the innermost parts of the body.  He also who is slack in his work is brother to him who destroys.  The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.  Proverbs 18:1-10

“So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things.  See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire!  And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which de3files the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.” James 3:5-6

I don’t know about you, but there are times when running into the pages of Scripture is all that can quiet my heart.  As you consider these verses, they are offered to remind you of how your words can trip you up and how your loving Heavenly Father is always waiting for you to return to His righteousness.  It is only there where there is safety and compassion.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

Pray for those in full-time service

Pray the Lord uphold our Christian leaders – that they never compromise God’s Word and remain bold and courageous in the face of evil.  Pray for their wisdom, safety, ingenuity, strength and for their families.

Pray for those with ongoing health concerns

Many of us have family, friends and loved ones with fragile health.  Pray God takes special care with them and protects them in practical ways and that the Lord will have mercy on them.

Pray for the World
