(Lyric Video/ Live at Saenger Performing Arts Centre
New Orleans, LA/2002)’
By Gaither Music TV (4 mins 24 sec)
“Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared
to Abram and said to him, ‘I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be
blameless. I will establish My covenant
between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly.’
“Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him saying, ‘As
for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you will be the father of a
multitude of nations. No longer shall
your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you
the father of a multitude of nations.’” Genesis 17:1-5
I don’t know about you, but I’m not yet 99 years old. Those who I’ve known who are seem pretty old
to me. I sense God put this amazing story
about His promises in His Word to remind us His generative power in our
lives. Dear Abram and Sarai were both a
bit over the age of conceiving, (even though Abram had earlier fathered Ishmael
at the young age of 86).
Can you imagine, how surprised those two were when it was
apparent God had not forgotten His promise to produce offspring as numerous as
the grains of sand and the stars in the sky?
It is a reminder to us of that little phrase, ‘God may be
slow, but He is never late!’ His
provision is always right on time, and it is always as He wants it to be -- for
our good and His glory. It is just our
impatience and trust that needs more development.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays
for you daily)
