(If you're not familiar with the" Four Spiritual Laws" or haven't shared it for awhile, here's the full version for you.)
"And they came to a
place named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, 'Sit here until I have
prayed.' And He took with Him Peter and
James and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.
"And He said to them,
'My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep
watch.'
"And He went a little
beyond them, and fell to the ground and began to pray that if it were possible,
the hour might pass Him by.
And He was saying,
'Abba! Father! All things are possible for Thee; remove this
cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt.'"
Mark 14:32-36
"I was a prisoner to my feelings. I mistakenly thought I could not trust God
unless I FELT like trusting Him, which I almost never did in times of adversity).
"Now I am learning that trusting God is first of all a
matter of the will, and is not dependent on my feelings. I choose to trust God and my feelings
eventually follow."*
Oh that we would grow to be more like Jesus! He, even when confronted with a future He
knew was upon Him, choose to face the unfolding plan trusting His Father. Now we are not Christ and growing up in Him
is never easy.
However, it is SO important to remember that our emotions are
like the caboose on a train. The fact of
the Truth is the engine of the train. Our
faith is the coal car. (an image from
"Four Spiritual Laws" by Campus Crusade for Christ). You can't possibly pull the train by the
caboose, yet the caboose is part of the train!
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
