"Hear my cry, O God;
give heed to my prayer. From the end of
the earth I call to Thee, when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is
higher than I. For Thou has been a
refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy.
"Let me dwell in Thy
tent forever; let me take refuge in the shelter of Thy wings. For Thou hast heard my vows, O God; Thou hast
given me the inheritance of those who fear Thy name."
Psalm 61:1-5
"My soul, wait in
silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be
shaken.
"On God my salvation
and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out
your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us." Psalm
62:5-8
"You and I obviously do not seek out adversity just so we
can develop a deeper relationship with God.
Rather God, through adversity, seeks us out. It is God who draws us more and more into a
deeper relationship with Him. If we are
seeking Him it is because He is seeking us.
One of the strong cords with which He draws us into a more
intimate, personal relationship with Him is adversity. If, instead of fighting God or doubting Him
in times of adversity, we will seek to cooperate with God, we will find that we
will be drawn into a deeper relationship with Him...For the believer all pain
has meaning; all adversity is profitable."*
