I Don't Understand.....

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.  He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

"Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, Thou hast anointed my head with oil, my cup overflows.

"Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."  Psalm 23

"It means we work back through the Scriptures regarding His sovereignty, wisdom, and goodness and ask Him to use those Scriptures to bring peace and comfort to our hearts.

"It means, above all, that we do not sin against God by allowing distrustful and hard thoughts about Him to hold sway in our minds.  It will often mean that we may have to say, 'God I do not understand, but I trust You.'"*

A rod in Scripture can represent a ruler's sceptre and the truth of his principles.  A staff in Scripture can be a long wooden walking stick that you take with you on your journey to lean on, to poke into bushes with (to see if there is anything dangerous there before you walk near it) and to protect you against enemies should they attack you.  Hummmmm....

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
