Bullies & God

"For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.  The Lord nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.  The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation."Psalm 33:9-11

"'Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.'

"Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.  You are just a vapour that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

"Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that.  But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil." James 4:13-15

"God is in control; He is sovereign.  He does whatever pleases Him and determines whether we can do what we have planned.  This is the essence of God's sovereignty; His absolute independence to do as He pleases and His absolute control over the actions of all His creatures.  No creature, person, or empire can either toward His will or act outside the bounds of His will."*

The world is full of bullies.  Yet, it is only with the "indulgence" of the Lord that permits their actions.  When we suffer at the hands of a "bully" we may wonder why (and wondering is fine); yet in the end we must purpose to trust our Father-God because we know despite difficulties, He loves us so much He chose to sacrifice His only beloved Son rather than live without us.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
