"When
Josephs brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, 'What if Joseph
should bear a grudge against us and pay us back in full for all the wrong which
we did to him?'
"So they
sent a messenger to Joseph, saying, 'Your father charged before he died saying
'Thus you shall say to Joseph, 'Please forgive, I beg you, the transgression of
your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong.'' And now, please forgive the transgression of the servants of
God of your father.' And Joseph wept
when they spoke to him.
"Then his
brothers also came and fell down before him and said, 'Behold, we are your
servants'' But Joseph said to them, 'Do
not be afraid, for am I in God's place?
And as for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in
order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will
provide for you and your little ones.'
So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them" Genesis
50:15-21
It
is apparent that Israel did not say this, but their fear, lack of trust and the
way they approached Joseph in this matter betrayed them. Joseph's tears and his answer mirror what
faith is. For those of you who have your
Bibles at hand, enjoy a few extra verses for your own meditation: Romans 12:19; I Thessalonians 5:15; I Peter
4:19; Luke 6:27ff. Joseph went beyond
forgiveness to provision. So like our
Heavenly Father!
Here
ends this series on the Foundations of Sin.
I do hope you enjoyed it and most of all that the Lord used the words of
His Words to teach and grow you in your faith.
Thank you for praying for the long list of those who have asked for
prayer. To move God's hand and heart it
takes our sincere prayers and the willingness for His will to be worked out for
His glory!
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
