His Will: Thankfulness

“Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.  And the Lord smelled the soothing aroma; and the Lord said to Himself, ’I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.’” Genesis 8:20-21

“Rejoice in the Lord always, again I will say, rejoice!  Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men.  The Lord is near.  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension shall guard your hears and your minds in Christ Jesus. – And God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory, in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7, 19

“We must see beyond the difficult circumstances to the sufficiency and the sovereignty of God.  God is always bigger than the problems and His will for us is that we never cease to recognise that being constantly thankful to Him for all the He is, and for all that He is doing.”*

To be thankful in all things is not easy...it is hard work reminding yourself over and over again that the Lord loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life and that He does know before the past and into the future so far there are only His eyes to see there!  There is a little book someone gave me once, by Merlin Carothers called:  “Prison to Praise”.  In it is his story of hardship and difficulty and his own arrogance at God, until he finally figures out that praising, thanking and trusting God in ALL situations, even the most impossible is one of the greatest secrets ever realised.

Take a moment before the end of the week and list TEN things you are truly thankful for.  Include at least five things that someone who loves you would think are more problems than good things.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
