Bible Silent Here

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not hears.

“The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yet, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Various from Psalm 19

“Much as I resist, I am pushed toward such conclusions by the Book of Job. What IS life so unfair? When DOES God cause suffering and when merely permit it – and what is the difference? Why DOES God sometimes seem silent and sometimes close and intimate?

“I cannot offer answers to Job’s specific questions, because God offered none. I can only ask why God gives no answers, why there must be an Encyclopaedia of Theological Ignorance. Because I am entering in an area on which the Bible stays silent.”*

Tomorrow, the first of two potential answers proposed.

Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
