Not Over Yet

“They took Jesus therefore, and He went out bearing His own cross to the place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified Him, -- After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop, and brought it to His mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit.” John 19:17-18a, 28-30

“For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping, because of Thine indignation and Thy wrath; for Thou hast lifted me up and cast me away. My days are like a lengthening shadow, and I wither away like grass. But Thou, O Lord, dost abide forever, and Thy name to all generations.” Psalm 102:9-12

“Jesus a king? A mock king if ever there was One, with His purple robe clotted with blood from the beatings and a crown of thorns jammed into His head. The disciples ran away, their loyalty overwhelmed by their fear of immediate danger. If Jesus could not protect Himself, why should He protect them? The visible world of Roman might met the invisible world of the Kingdom of Heaven and seemed for a time to snuff it out.” *

Sometimes it is easy to give up hope when things grow dark and empty and frightening around us. That is a perfect time to consider Christ!

Take care to understand His Word. Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
