Hannah Knew What We Didn’t Know’
By Grace Digital Network (15 mins 11 sec)
“Then Hannah rose after eating and drinking in
Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting
on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. She, greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord
and wept bitterly.
“She made a vow and said, ‘O Lord of hosts, if You will
indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not
forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give
him to the Lord all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his
head.’” I Samuel 1:9-11
Each year Elkanan would journey into Shiloh to worship and
sacrifice to the Lord of hosts. He had
two wives and children by the one, but his other wife, Hannah, was baren and
longed for a child. In her longing, she
promised that she would give her child back to God, if He would only provide
her with this validation.
We can never know what God’s plans are for our life, but we
can know our God. In the case of Hannah,
God’s plan involved postponing her years of childbearing. While her husband and others judged her as a
failure, yet God was moving ahead with His plan.
Think of those in your world who are struggling with God’s
timing in answering their prayers and who need your love and support as they
wait. It may also be God’s plan that you
are the one who may help them remain steadfast in their faith and confident in His
timing to bring fulfilment to their lives.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you daily)
