BUT DADDY ...

“Now it came about after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, ‘Abraham!’  And he said, ‘Here I am.’  And He said, ‘Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah; and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I tell you.’

“So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God has told him.

"On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance.  And Abraham said to his young men, ‘Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go yonder, and we will worship and return to you.

“And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in hand the fire and the knife.  So the two of them walked on together.

“And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, ‘My father!’  And he said, ‘Here I am, my son.’  And he said, ‘Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?’  And Abraham said, ‘God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son’  So the two of them walked on together.”  Genesis 22:1-8

I was nine when I read this story the first time.  I can tell you it really confused me.  My Daddy was the best and the kindest man ever and smarter than anyone anywhere that I knew.  And he loved me so much he would ‘hug the stuffings out of me’ with such glee and delight!  I could not imagine a Dad who would want to kill his son.

Really!  How could a Dad do that!  And it wasn’t just a son but his ONLY son -- and he even made the son carry the firewood.  And the son was no fool, he figured out what was going to happen.  How could he trust his Dad!

But when you read the passage carefully and prayerfully you discover that Abraham trusted his Heavenly Father so much, he knew God would never let him harm his son and promised ‘…and we will worship and return to you’ when asking the servants to wait for them to return.

Yet, amazingly enough, God DID allow HIS only Son to pay the price for my every sin:  past, present and future.  He loved me so much He choose to carry the wood up that hill and die for my sins rather than live without my having a choice to trust Him.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning. Darlene

  • Baby Jolie– 11 months old with meningitis and kidney failure.  Has been on dialysis and a respirator.  Her breathing tube now removed, and she is out of Intensive care.  However, they still MAY HAVE TO AMPUTATE her leg.  Please continue to pray her leg will be saved, her health carers to have wisdom and compassion, her parents to have patience and peace and that the Lord provides a miracle of healing for this child.  Family so grateful for all the prayers.
  • Savannah – 15-year-old granddaughter of Cliff and Beth, diagnosed with a difficult-to-treat, psychological disorder with potential serious consequences.  New meds seem to be helping.  She has a long recover ahead, but there is progress with this brain injury.  Pray for her attitude, wisdom for her health carers, patience for her parents and complete healing.
  • USA President Donald Trump – It is our responsibility as Christians to remember God has a plan through this man.  If you doubt the importance of his appointment, just look at how much antagonism there is against him.  Surely Satan is NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.  Pray someone helps President Trump understand the true meaning of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that he will have a driving hunger to read God’s Word for himself and that God sends a Bible-believing Christian to regularly disciple him in the Truth and that God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who circle around him.
  • Fred – is making plans to move from California to Tennessee in the first quarter of 2020.  Pray for his wise attention to details and stamina as he makes this life change.
  • Tracey – Pray Tracey finds a new role to satisfy her and allow her to grow and share her skills and wisdom.
  • Me – The Lord has provided me with a short, 4-week project that seems to be delayed.  Thank you for praying.  Please pray He finds a way for my laptop to be fixed soon (if you receive the email version with the full prayer list, the formatting is different (sorry).

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
