Lent Begins

“And the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life; and I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed, He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise Him on the heel.’” Genesis 3:14-15

“Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil for the devil has sinned from the beginning.  The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” I John 3:7-8

Genesis 3 is familiar to most of us.  It contains the first of many prophecies of Christ’s victory to save us from our desire to do things our way.

The author[1] asks, ‘Why do all our highest ideal inevitably disappoint us?  The most compelling answer is given to us in Genesis 3 … Adam and Eve believe they will be like God if they only free themselves from the perceived constraints of Divine Law ... Here, in the beginning, God Himself announces the gospel.

“Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that your last word to Your world is not judgement.  Thank You that in the midst of sin and darkness You bring us the word of salvation.  We praise You for the last Adam, who has destroyed the works of the devil.  He is our hope and our salvation.  Amen.”

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

·        UPDATE - Sue Furbee and husband, Sam – They both thank you for your faithful prayers.  The procedure has not shown any positive affect yet from the stem cell treatment.  They remain hopeful as they were told it could take up to six months.  Please keep praying for her recovery and for Sam’s care and devotion.  For more information and to contribute to the high costs of the procedures visit their GoFundMe page:  https://www.gofundme.com/sue-furbee
·        UPDATE - Barbara – the results of her PET scan showed that the spot on her lung was no longer there.  Thank you so much for praying for her and for Tim who supports her daily.  They are my only family left and I’ve not seen them since 2006 and I miss them terribly.
·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest on You alone.
