Hardest Thing About Evangelism

"Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.  To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.

"Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship0 in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh," Philippians 3:1-3

"For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.  But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter, and his praise is not from men, but from God." Romans 2:28-29

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths.  But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelise, fulfil your ministry." II Timothy 4:3-5

Well, the title of the devotion is wrong.  There are a few things that are particularly difficult when sharing your faith.  One major difficulty is when you speak with a pre-Christian and find THEY are confused by the many differences.

There are Catholics, Protestants, and within each of these are liberals, conservatives, evangelicals, fundamentalist, even radical fundamentalist.  There are so many denominations it is silly.

My answer:  There is my opinion about matters of the faith.  There is their opinion about matters of the faith.  Then, there is the infallible Truth of God's Word.  Only the last one matters!

To be good at sharing your faith, you need to know your Bible.  The more you rely on the His Word, the stronger and more effective your witness will be (Isaiah 55:11).  (By the way, many will typically argue about the reliability of the old, dusty Bible.  With that in mind, I strongly commend you to invest the 35 minutes and 44 seconds needed to listen and take notes from this YouTube Video about that very topic because it is a critical question!)

  • ·        Me - No progress from yesterday about the project I was short-listed for, but had a very good conversation about a project in Melbourne (would mean commuting on a weekly basis after the New Year).  Who knows what our mighty Lord and Saviour is working out around me.  It will be a miracle if I get to use these free tickets home, but then He is IN the miracle business.  Pray for the Lord's will.

PRAY FOR THOSE WITH ONGOING HEALTH CONCERNS

  • ·        UPDATE - Adrian - the weather in Australia is extremely hot now and he has no air conditioning.  This is exaggerating his misery and with the change in his meds, he is in much pain.  The cancer markers are not lowering.  Please pray God's mercy and a plan to give Adrian some dignity and comfort in a new home; and continue to pray for his little companion dog, Toby.  Toby may seem trivial, but he is very important to Adrian's mental well-being and a clear gift from the Lord during this time of pain and loneliness.
  • ·        UPDATE - David R - having blood pressure challenges again without his companion dog.  Did meet a Service Dog and he is nearly convinced of the value.  In the meantime, he is also looking for another dog as the Service Dog will not be available until June with all the required training.

  • ·        Aunt Donna - (Doris' sister, age 84) has dementia. Please pray for her daughters for guidance in her care.
