Key Difference With Being a Christian

"If therefore the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?  And will not he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a transgressor of the Law?

"For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.  But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is not that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter, and his praise is not from men, but from God." Romans 2:26-29

Charles Price wrote in his commentary on Matthew:  "Overlook this central truth and His teaching on conduct will produce despair in the mind of the conscientious reader!  It is this central principle which lifts Christianity above EVERY other religious or philosophical system.

"Jesus did not come to preach ethics or to refine a moral code, but to invade the life of ordinary human beings with the life of God and consequently transform their behaviour from within."

Most of the people of the world, when they think of God, know in their hearts they are not equal to His greatness, whatever they might think that is.

So they try to do better (some even try to do worse thinking there is no hope).  They give to charity.  They serve the homeless or feed hungry people.  They may even go to church "religiously".  They might be baptised and go to Bible studies and never miss Communion services or Easter.  They might sing in church, etc.

Most are simply good people doing their best to show God they can be worthy enough.  That is legalism not grace!  It is not what you do or do not do; it is Who lives in your heart.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Thank you for the recent PRAYER UPDATES

  • Continue to pray for the special person you identified four weeks ago in your assignment until they fall into His arms.  Then you can pick another to pray for!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

  • ·        UPDATE - BG - has had a series of tests and examinations and a few more to go.  With the headaches and the small blood vessels in his head, the doctors have found he has been having strokes for some time and it seems his pituitary gland is also affected.  He needs our prayers at this time to strengthen him and keep him calm.  More as I get updates.
  • ·        UPDATE - Adrian - The weekly treatments are providing some relief.  He is trying to do everything he has had to put off for a year all at once before he can't work again and growing exhausted by over activity!  Pray he paces himself, although it is easy to understand why he does this.  I'm unsure how many more treatments he has to go in this set.  Perhaps finally this cancer will be put in remission.  No word about help from the social worker.  Pray she makes an extra effort to get him help.  Pray for Adrian's companion dog, Toby, to remain healthy.  He is very important to Adrian's mental well-being and a clear gift from the Lord during this time of pain and loneliness.
  • ·        UPDATE - JR - is home now getting ready for his next battery of tests.  His attitude is good, considering he has rapidly advancing small cell carcinoma in his brain.  Please pray for him and the quality of life and time he has, for his wife, family, friends and the health carers as they deal with this serious situation.  Pray most of all that his heart opens to the love and grace of Jesus' gift of grace.
  • ·        UPDATE - My brother, Tim - Pray for strength, wisdom, courage, health and patience as he ministers to his dear and precious friend, JR (and Dale), during this difficult time.  Tim has shared his testimony with JR, and cares about him very much.  The weather (which sounds insignificant for most of us) is making it difficult for Tim with his COPD.
